Guys have never really been comfortable with talking about facial skincare. It’s been traditionally looked down on as “girly” or “feminine” (neither of which are bad things).

But believe me when I tell you, it’s important to take care of your face, guys. Seriously. Taking good care of your skin early on in life can make the wrinkly difference between looking like Jeff Goldblum (65) vs. looking like Bill Murray (67) (I’m sorry, Mr. Murray. I love you)

Do you really want to get into your 60’s looking like a bloodhound? Developing a morning skincare regimen can lessen wrinkles, reduce acne, and keep you looking younger longer. Who doesn’t want that?

Developing your regimen is built around consistency and great products. Using products that have certain ingredients like petroleum or alcohol can make you look older, making your entire routine pointless. When looking for facial skincare products, you want ones that use all-natural ingredients.

Fortunately, Whiskey, Ink, and Lace is your one-stop shop for all-natural, facial skincare products. Now you can tweak this routine as you see fit, of course, but this is what I do.

Face Wash

Every morning in the shower, use a deep cleansing face wash. A good face wash is used to cleanse your pores and moisturize you skin, which means wrinkles are less likely to start showing up.

The face wash from Whiskey, Ink, and Lace contains a bit of caffeine to wake up your face, smoothing out lines and getting rid of those dark circles under your eyes you’ve been accumulating after many a late night. It also contains lemongrass essential oils, which gives extra moisturizing and toning benefits.

And don’t think regular soap is gonna cut it. Most soaps don’t contain the chemicals needed to clean your pores AND moisturize. Using all-natural face wash will make a huge difference in how your skin looks and feels.

Remember that when you use facial cleanser to pat your face dry with a soft towel when you get out of the shower. Rubbing it can irritate or damage the skin.

Rinse your face with warm water before rubbing in the face wash. This will open your pores to let the face wash clean them. Use gentle, small circles when rubbing it into your skin. Then wash it off with cool water to close the pores back up.

After-shave lotion

If you shave regularly, having some after-shave lotion around is important. Shaving can leave your skin looking and feeling dry.

Take a pump of the lotion in your hands, then massage it into the skin after you shave.

All the ingredients in the Whiskey, Ink, and Lace afer-shave lotion are natural with no filler, unlike so many other after-shave lotions.

A lot of other after-shave lotions contain alcohol, which, as mentioned before, dries out the skin and makes you look older.

If you want, you can use the lotion on the rest of your face if you’d like. Since it’s all-natural, there’s no reason you can’t moisturize the rest of your face with it.

Eye Care Cream

If, like me, you spent a lot of years not getting near enough sleep, the skin under your eyes are more than a bit wrinkly and dark.

Every night before bed (and mornings if you want), applying a little eye cream will help reduce those wrinkles and dark circles.

At Whiskey, Ink, and Lace, our eye care cream contains natural anti-aging ingredients, like knotgrass and algae extracts, carrot seed essential oil, and coconut oil, all of which revitalize the skin and adds elasticity and tone.

To properly demonstrate the effectiveness of this eye cream, I applied the cream every night before bed for two weeks (though I continue using it now). The first picture is before I started using it, then after one week of use, then two weeks.

Yeah, your skin might look young and fine now, but if you don’t start taking care of it now, you’re going to end up regretting it in the long run. Maintenance is important. Starting early can prevent your face from showing just how many miles you've gone.

I'm not saying buying all these products will keep you looking 20 when you're 50, but it will keep you on the right side of looking like Goldblum and away from looking like Murray (again, sorry Mr. Murray. I love you).

Cheers!
